Adjustment Counseling

Individuals who have suffered a brain injury usually experience some difficulty emotionally adjusting to the changes imposed upon them by their brain injury. Family members often have difficulty understanding and adapting to changes in the brain-injured individual's behavior and abilities. Patients typically feel misunderstood and frustrated by others' misconceptions of their difficulties.

We provide the individual and the family with accurate information about issues related to brain injury and how best to cope with changes. Individual, family, and/or group adjustment counseling usually take place on a once-a-week basis as an essential element of the patient's rehabilitation program.
